Down But Not Out

My name is Kay, and this is my journey to 140 lbs. My ultimate goal is 127, but I decided to set a more realistic goal for this course of 100 days. My journey won't be over at the end of this cycle-but it's the kick start I need. I was inspired by the method of MTV's 'I Used To Be Fat' in that I've created a countdown calendar with mini goals and motivational words written on each day. I hope to inspire you as much as I hope to inspire myself. I'm worth this change and you are too!

Yes-it was water weight so it comes off really quick. There was a day or two that I didn’t really eat anything but that was just because my stomach couldn’t handle food at that point. It’s all done in a healthy way-so I’m not expecting to pull those numbers every week haha!

My Bum Hurts

I went hard at the gym today, I only ran a 1.25 miles but I did it in 10 minutes which ruled for me! I decided to get back on the elliptical since running has been doing a number on my knees, and ooooh man, that was painful but it was the best feeling pain ever. I tried to focus a lot on my butt and core and I think I did just that today! I did many variations of squats (sumo, sliders, jump, prisoner, weighted, bench) I did butt & side kicks (DEF works that gluteus to it’s maximus). I worked a little bit on my arms, back, and chest with variations of a push up on the physioball-but not enough to brag about. For my core I did some planks, ow, scissor kicks, OW, and reverse pop-up crunches, OOWWW! I felt so good after I did 15 minutes on the elliptical again and upped the resistance then walked/jogged with my dogs for a half hour-you know bonded and stuff. Now I think I’ll do some more bum/core work at home before I go to bed. Yeah, that sounds good. I’ve had so much motivation these past few days because I’m now in the mindset that I will NOT look like this the next time I see my dude in January & February

 I’m not a dietician or trainer by ANY means whatso ever, this is just from my personal experience. I was annorexic for a short bit and I’m telling you YOURE RIGHT! it’s the worst thing I’ve EVER done to my body-plus I lost more weight last week than I did the entire time I wasn’t eating. Now not to discourage you right off the bat, but there isn’t a way to lose weight fast unless you don’t plan on keeping it off. Last week was my first week so the weight I lost was all water weight which drinking an ass load of water every day definitely helps speed up the process-you’ll pee like crazy but thats good. Since you’ve not been eating properly you may gain a little bit of weight at first-so don’t get discouraged, thats so normal, just keep going. I try to eat 4-6 small meals a day, I’m vegan so my food choices are good more often than not. Eat the rainbow-meaning incorporate different variations of fruits and veggies. I like to try and make one meal a smoothie or juice everyday, usually breakfast or post-workout snack. Eat lots of fiber-yes, more time spent on the toilet! And I workout 6-7 times a week, but the normal for weight-loss is generally 3-5 times. I love YouTube for this, I always look up different workouts that I can do at home so I’m not at the gym all day. And, yeah thats pretty much it, drink water (and green tea!), eat the rainbow (just not the skittles), and workout a healthy amount and youre on your way. Just don’t be focused on trying to lose it ‘Fast’ that’s where I’ve lost myself so many times because I get discouraged, give your body time to develop good habits and make good choices!

K, this is how you KNOW we’ve run out of food in the house, when I start making pancakes-I NEVER eat pancakes, waffles, French toast, all that jazz-too heavy in my stomach. So I made this small pancake loaded with good stuff

Ingredients:
Pancakes
Blueberry pancake mix
1TBSP pumpkin puree
1TBSP cinnamon
Water
 I really don’t like syrup anymore it’s too sweet and sticky so I took mixed berries (straw/blue/black/rasp) and heated them in a pot and added just a taste of honey. This was good, the pancake I didn’t care for-I just don’t like em! Despite the small size it sure filled me up though!

After my trip to the grocery store-

Lunch:
Apple & PB…must. Break. Habit.
Baby orange, tangerine? Not sure

Post workout snack:
1/2 banana with a teaspoon of peanut butter topped with a chopped walnut

Dinner:
Vegetable quinoa w/fresh tomatoes, hot salsa, steamed broccoli, a couple meatless meat balls, and a dash of pepper

Yeah makes perfect sense :) go to where you can customize your blog and scroll down to the >Pages selection click +Add A Page choose the redirect option at the top where it says standard layout, under page URL add a simple phrase at the end of the /, I just used ‘countdowncalendar’ then under redirect to you’ll put your tumblr URL/tagged/ whatever it is you want the page to be, mine is /countdown+calendar-remember to include the + if it’s more than one word :) lastly under show a link to this page check the box and type in the title you want to appear on your blog. Tag every post you want to appear on the page as the tag you put under the redirect URL, so for mine I tag each day as countdown calendar. Hope THAT made sense haha!
